About the YMCA of Greater St. Louis
150 Years of Service
The YMCA of Greater St. Louis was founded on October 13, 1853, at the 2nd Baptist Church by 23 young men. Since that day in 1853, the YMCA has been one of the leading health and human service organizations in St. Louis. Beginning with three rented rooms in the Mercantile Library, and growing as St. Louis grew, we now deliver programs and services through 20 branches and more than 450 program sites all over the Greater St. Louis community. We are proud of the lives we’ve touched and the difference we’ve been able to make in St. Louis.
Kids
The YMCA has always placed a special focus on serving children. From Sunday Schools to Hi-Y clubs; Indian Guides to Teen Town, YMCA programs have met the needs of thousands of children and teenagers.
Adults

Communities
