Getting Started: Land-Based Fitness classes

For Edward Jones Family YMCA full members, metro members and program participants: Must be at least age 16 to participate in any of the adult land-based fitness classes. Most classes are available to full members as part of membership. Those classes are on a first come, first serve basis. Specialty classes have a fee, members always pay the lowest rate, and registration is required. Schedules are available at the service center and subject to change.
Registration is required for each class you attend.
If you are not a member, you have two options for taking classes:
DROP-IN Pay a small fee and drop into a land-based class for a day. (Specialty classes have their own drop-in fees. See specific class descriptions). #10106-01
Drop-in fee: $8 (On-line registration not available for this option.)
POWER PASS Unlimited aerobics classes any day, any time during the session. (Not available for specialty classes.) #10135-01
Power pass fee: $92 (On-line registration not available for this option.)

CLASSES FREE TO MEMBERS:
Aerobics & More
A challenging cardio workout designed for advanced participants. Combines aerobic conditioning with muscle conditioning and flexibility exercise.
Cardio Pilates
A fusion of cardiovascular exercises and Pilates exercises to help train your heart and tone your muscles all at the same time.
Cardio Hip Hop
A fun, cardio workout that features fat and calorie burning routines based on popular hip hop dance moves. Dance experience not required! Steps will be broken down.
Beginner Toning
This class focuses on conditioning the core and provides a variety of upper and lower body exercises. This class will also help sculpt and develop flexibility.
Bars, Bands & Balls
Class designed to sculpt and define the total body utilizing a variety of equipment for resistance training including weights, body bars, stability balls and tubing.
Guts & Butts
This class focuses on conditioning the core and lower body.
Stretch, Flex and Tone
This class focuses on conditioning the core and toning the body while building flexibility.
Absolutely Abs
Helps you firm your stomach and trim your waistline. The entire midsection is targeted in this class.
Slow Lift
Class teaches people to lift weights in a slow, controlled manner, thereby, removing the momentum and isolating that
particular muscle to failure. The class also teaches injury prevention, again by learning the correct form, and lifting
slowly. This class is taught by a personal trainer.
Circuit Work-It
A 30-minute fitness, cardio and strength training class designed to give you a quick work out full of variety. Class is held in the privacy of the Personal Fitness Center.
Cardio Plus
Not getting enough cardio in your workout? This half-hour cardio class will help motivate you and challenge your existing workout. Meets in personal fitness center.
Y-Pump
Experience an out-of-this world muscular burn from this endurance and strength based weight training class. Works each muscle group for a total of 5 minutes to improve endurance and speed up muscular toning.
Ballet Sculpt
This cutting edge class is for anyone who wants to improve body awareness, grace, flexibility and overall fitness by challenging muscular endurance, balance and coordination
Sole Synthesis
A fusion workout blending balletone exercises with traditional fitness moves and rejeuvenating yoga poses.
Zumba
Dance-themed workout that features aerobic & interval training with a combination of fast & slow rhythms to sculpt the body.

Basics Yoga
Learn the fundamentals of yoga as you get a great workout. Perfect for beginners. Lasts seven weeks. Please bring a mat.

Yoga
Designed to introduce students to Yoga. Classes combine postures, breathing and focus to promote strength, flexibility, stamina, balance, and deep relaxation of mind and body. (8 min., 30:1) Lasts seven weeks. Please bring a mat.

Pilates
Designed to introduce students to Pilates. Tone and sculpt your body using basic Pilates moves and techniques, while improving posture and strength. Please bring a mat. #10311-01

Tai Chi
Tai Chi is the art of creating energy. By practicing Tai Chi, you increase balance, ability to focus and concentrate, develop a strong core and powerful legs, build strength, enhance muscle tone and circulation, flexibility, posture, coordination and range of motion. Enhances body, mind and spirit through meditation and deep breathing. #10315-01
