Parent Education

Beginning Babies with Books

Beginning Babies with Books works with parents to develop at-home literacy skills by providing parent support and opportunities to receive children's books.

Parent Education Classes

As part of the YMCA's focus on youth development, health and wellness and social responsibility, Beginning Babies with Books partners with numerous agencies throughout the St. Louis area. Workshops are held in conjunction with our partner agencies or for groups of 10 or more parents.

Parenting classes through Y Literacy encourage parents to:

  • advocate for their children
  • discipline through Love and Logic®
  • become comfortable in their parenting skills.

If you have a group of 10 or more parents who are interested in parenting workshops please contact Jennifer at jschmidt@ymcastlouis.org or 314.776.7102.

At this time we do not offer individual parenting classes. If you are court ordered for parenting classes please contact Jennifer to be placed on a waiting list for our next group session. These sessions are fee based and occur a few times a year based upon need.

Supporting educators with behavior management and literacy training.

Educator workshops are fee-based workshops that are one to two hours in length.

Workshops include: discussion, introduction of lesson plans, book lists, and an opportunity to select and make classroom resources.

For more information on any of these programs or for information on how to help, contact Jennifer Schmidt at (314)776-7102 ext. 23 or jschmidt@ymcastlouis.org.
