Impact
The YMCA movement is now the largest not-for-profit provider in the United States, serving more than 21 million Americans. YMCAs are also at work in more than 120 countries. In St. Louis, the YMCA operates 21 facilities, including a resident camp and retreat center, to meet the health and social service needs of men, women and children of all faiths, races, abilities, ages and incomes.
The YMCA of Greater St. Louis works with more than 5,000 volunteers annually in program delivery and organizational guidance through boards and committees. Core programs include aquatics programs, wellness and fitness, child care, camping, sports, and teen leadership.
To help increase understanding of the impact that YMCAs make in communities across the country, the Y unveiled a new brand strategy in July 2010. Through its new brand strategy and framework, the nonprofit extends its reach into communities to nurture the potential of youth and teens; improve the nation's health and well-being; and provide opportunities to support neighbors.
