FIELD DAY: From Elementary School to University
On Saturday, March 24th, elementary school kids stormed Washington University’s Athletic Complex. Why, you ask? For Field Day, one of the Campus Y’s new programs this school year. Field Day was designed to recognize elementary students who had performed exceptionally well this academic year, giving them a chance to have fun and be rewarded for their hard work.
Teams of students ran from station to station, engaging in activities such as Tug of War, the Lay-Up Challenge, and the Labor of Hercules. The kids were ecstatic to be playing with the “big kids” from Washington University, and enjoyed games of Twister and Karaoke with them. The amount of encouragement in the gym, coming from fellow classmates and Washington University volunteers, was amazing! The volunteers did an excellent job of facilitating the day’s activities and emphasizing how much farther you can get when you work hard in school. The Campus Y thanks all those who participated
