POSITION: SACC Group Leader
STATUS: Part-Time
REPORTS TO: SACC Site Director
SALARY: $7.25 Hour (varies based on experience)
GENERAL FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Site Director, the incumbent will be responsible for planning developmentally appropriate activities and experiences. Supervise school age children. Ensure all children’s individual needs are met with dignity and respect and opportunities for independence. Assure all safety procedures are followed according to YMCA policies and procedures. Model, practice and carry out the Y values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility. Will be held accountable for problem solving, parent/school communications and maintaining YMCA and Missouri State Standard of Child Care. May be asked to perform other YMCA duties while exemplifying the “Y” values, as assigned by Site Director or Program Director.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Experience Requirements:
-Minimum 1 year of experience in a child-care function
-Must have high school education, prefer some college hours
-Must be willing to work with children regardless of age, sex, race, religion, family background or ability
-Be available to possibly work a split shift of before school and after school child care
-Must have reliable transportation
Physical/Mental Requirements:
-Must be able to lift 35 lbs.
-Must be physically capable of observing and listening for children at all times.
-Must be able to quickly reach a child and/or situation to prevent harm
-Must have good problem solving skills and the ability to make sound judgments related to all aspects of the program.
-Must be able to bend and sit on floor if necessary.
-Must pass a medical examination including a TB test within 30 days of hire
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
∑ Must have a basic understanding of child development and be able to plan and carry out appropriate activities.
∑ Must pass DOH child abuse screening, local law enforcement records check and child care registration.
∑ Must understand the difference between discipline and punishment.
∑ Must understand the concepts of mutual respect, caring, honesty and responsibility in positive communications and interactions with children and parents.
∑ Must have appropriate communication skills to deal with parents, children and other staff.
∑ Attention to detail, good judgment
∑ Ability to handle interruptions and manage multi-routine projects simultaneously
∑ Must report any suspicion of child abuse or neglect per YMCA guideline.
