Camp Discovery
June 2 - August 15
$109 per week, Members pay only $89 per week
Registration fee $25 per family
($35 after May 1)
(must register at least 1 week in advance)

Camp Discovery at the Carondelet YMCA offers everything a summer needs -leadership, friendship, learning and FUN! Including swimming, arts & crafts, sports, games and field trips there’s something for everyone.
* Lunch is provided daily--free of charge.
* Both indoor and outdoor activities to beat the heat.
* Before and After care is available at no extra charge.
* 1:12 counselor to camper ratio.
* Community involvement through visits and activities.
* Camp is located at the Carondelet Family YMCA.

Main camp activities will take place between 9 am and 4 pm, with Extended Care starting at 7 am and going until 6 pm.

Extended Care
Extended Care will be available at no additional charge, starting as early as 7 am and going until 6 pm. A late fee will be charged for all pick-ups after 6 pm.

Deposits
Space for camp is limited. Therefore, in order to reserve space, a non-refundable deposit of $10 per week of camp is required. Remaining balance must be paid 7 days in advance.
CAMP DEPOSITS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE AND NON-TRANSFERRABLE.

Scholarships
Scholarship assistance is available for the summer camp program, but funds are limited. The application deadline for summer camp scholarship assistance is May 16, 2008.

Who Can Attend
Camp Discovery is open to children ages 5-12. Children age 5 must have attended and completed all-day kindergarten.

Camp Themes

June 2 - 6 - Into Outer Space
We will explore the possibilities of life in outer space life and the make up of the universe. Field trip to the St. Louis Science Center.\

June 9 - 13 - Things of the River
Learn all about the creatures that live under the waters of Missouri
rivers, how humans control the waters with dams and levys.
We will visit and explore the Alton Dam.

June 16 - 20 - My Fairy Tales
The best thing about kids are all the stories they imagine. We want to share our creativity and live out our dreams. Campers will write and perform a skit for a Camp Talent Show! Field trip to the St. Louis Zoo.

June 23 - 27 - It’s A Bugs Life
Ever wonder how many different bugs are in the world, or what the
world looks like through the eyes of a beetle? We will investigate and explore the lives of our creepy crawly friends. Field trip to
Butterfly House.

June 30 - July 3 - Hurray for the Red, White & Blue
It’s Fourth of July Week, and we will celebrate with flying colors. Campers will experiment using science that will dazzle and shine!
THERE WILL BE NO CAMP ON FRIDAY JULY 4.

July 7 - 11 - Wild And Wacky
This week we will use our imagination and creativity to make
camp scrap books to remember all our best camp memories and
friends. Field trip to Skatium Skating Rink.

July 14 - 18 - Occupational Network
What do you want to be when you grow up? Learn about all the
different careers and jobs that make the world go-round.

July 21 - 25 - Safety Week
Using Caution is important indoors and outdoors, This week campers will learn about safety from fire fighters who will visit the camp.

July 28 - August 1 - Cave Life
Have you ever heard of spelunking? What about stalagtites and
stalagmites? This week we will learn all about how caves are formed and more. Field trip to Meramac Caverns or the City Museum.

August 4 - 8 - International Week
We live in such an amazing world of diverse cultures, many of which we know nothing about. This week we will look at other cultures and their similarities and differences to our own. We will cook ethnic food and explore a new culture each day of the week. We will visit the International Institute.

August 11 - 15- Water Blow Out
How many water games can a kid play in one day? This week is all
about water balloons and water games.
