The Arts and Humanities activites at the West County Family YMCA and its 370 seat theater is the center of the arts in West County. Premiere performances, community theater, arts for kids and teens, a youth orchestra, community adult orchestra and a variety of classes and workshops are offered throughout the year.
During the summer months, the theater buzzes with day camps at the Summer Arts Academy. Children ages 5-18 have unique opportunites in theater, dance, visual arts, cirus and other performing arts.
Arts and Humanities Programs
Y-Rep Community Theater - 2-3 productions a year of musicals, dramas, mysteries and comedies are produced at the Chesterfield Community Theater. Actors from the community are chosen through open auditions for each production. Past productions include: Crimes of the Heart; Bye, Bye Birdie; and The Odd Couple (female version).
Y-Rep Kids - Our theater company for kids (15 years & under) that puts on 2 plays a year. Actors are selected through audtions.
Y-Rep Teens - Our theater company exclusively for high schoolers that puts on 3 plays a year including the winning play from the Annual Y-Rep Teens One-Act Writing Contest. Teens also have the opportunity to get involved in other Y-Rep productions.
Y-Rep Troupers - Our theater company that performs 3 plays a year for children ages 5-12. School performances are held on Fridays and public performances take place on Saturdays and Sundays.
Writer's Voice - The Pen to Hope Prison Program instructed by Jane Ilbur works with inmates at the St. Louis Correctional Facility in creative writing and journaling.
West County Family YMCA Youth Symphony Orchestra & Chamber Orchestra - Conductors: Dr. Donald K. Miller and Debbie Woolverton
Auditions are open to ages 9-21. Group performs 3 concerts a year. Rehearsals are Sundays from 2:30-5p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Ellisville on Manchester at Clarkson.
Theater Rental
The Chesterfield Community Theater is available for rent to businesses, schools, performing groups, etc. We provide lighting, sound, technical and production services for your event. Call 636.532.6515 ext. 231 for information and rates.
