Our YMCA will be known as a great steward of all of our assets, human, financial and physical. Our YMCA will be recognized in St. Louis and the national YMCA movement for embracing and celebrating the diversity of our community. Our YMCA will engage members, participants and the community for a lifelong experience. Our YMCA will reach out to those seeking to grow in Spirit, Mind and Body.

Our YMCA will be known as a great steward of all of our assets, human, financial and physical. We will:

  • Manage our branches in a financially sound manner
  • Fund our reserves
  • Achieve our Partner Campaign goals
  • Ensure that financial assistance is available to all
  • Maintain and improve our physical plant in a superior manner
  • Maintain our outstanding experience rating for insurance and workers compensation claims
  • Plan accordingly for major renovations and repairs to our facilities
  • Use our LB& E funds strategically to improve member services
  • Continue to increase ratings on our staff satisfaction surveys
  • Provide a quality benefit and pay plan package to staff at all levels
  • Continue to offer opportunities for staff development through the Leadership Development Center
  • Improve staff retention annually
  • Be included in the list of “Best Places to Work in St. Louis”

Our YMCA will be recognized in St. Louis and the national YMCA movement for embracing and celebrating the diversity of our community. We will:

  • Ensure that staff and volunteers reflect the diversity of the communities they serve
  • Target each branches classes, programs and services to the individual community that it serves
  • Implement the Diversity Initiative in all of our branches
  • Ensure that respect for diversity is the foundation of everything that we do
  • Implement membership policies and procedures which embrace diversity - Household membership structure, Income-based membership rates, Payment options, Programs for people of all ages, races, genders, abilities and economic levels

Our YMCA will engage members, participants and the community for a lifelong experience. We will:

  • Focus on building small communities through Membership by Design
  • Improve Association retention rates 2% annually
  • Develop programs and classes for people of all ages and in all stages of life
  • Make telling the “whole story” of the YMCA of Greater St. Louis a priority in our publications
  • Include a statement about financial assistance on all communication pieces and in all media
  • Become recognized as the leading human service non-profit organization in each community we serve, and in the larger Greater St. Louis community
  • Become involved in and connected to the communities we serve, through service organizations and community-based organizations
  • Incorporate the Search Institute’s Developmental Assets into programs for children and teens to help strengthen and preserve the family structure

Our YMCA will reach out to those seeking to grow in Spirit, Mind and Body. We will:

  • Purposefully research the wants and needs of seekers in our communities and offer programs, services amenities etc., to meet those needs
  • Train our staff to recognize seekers and serve them
  • Focus on listening to our members and prospective members
  • Implement YUSA’s Total Health Initiative—including Activate America and The Gulick Project.
