Swim Lessons
National YMCA Aquatics programs are designed to teach personal water safety, stroke development, water sports & games, rescue and personal growth skills to children. Our program is divided by age and by skill levels. Advancing to the next level is dependent on the child's completion of required skills. Children learn at their own pace. Session length does not guarantee that all children will advance to the next level. All instructors are trained to work with children. A minimum number of students must be registered for the class to take place. Early registration is encouraged.

Click here to be directed to our program brochure for more information.

Wavemakers Swim Team
Announcing Our New Head Swim Team Coach – Stacy Wistuba
Stacy Wistuba started swimming when she was 6 months of age upon her mother's accord. With a start in aquatics at such an early age she has been blessed with a wide variety of experiences.  The YMCA has always been part of her career; high school, college, and professional tenure. She has over 20 years experience with stroke development, swim teams and most importantly forming strong programs for the community.  Stacy holds a variety of certifications that focus in on swimming or in the sport/recreation field which has allowed her focus in on her skills in the sport management field.  Some of the certifications that Stacy holds are: ACSM/NSPAPPH Physical Activity in Public Health Specialist (PAPHS) and YMCA Swimming and Diving Coach certification.  She has two masters, one from Morehead State University in Sport Management and the other from Eastern Kentucky University in Safety, Security and Emergency Management. She has had the pleasure of developing YMCA swim teams in Missouri (Kansas City) and in Kentucky. Stacy is excited to take the next step to being a head coach and watching the swimmers grow to the next level!

All lap swimmers, children and adults, must be able to swim two lengths of the pool without stopping. Children under 8 must be within arms length in the water at all times. Floatation devices may be used at the lefeguard's discretion. One mile is equal to 64 lengths, 32 laps. Lifeguard has final authority.

Missed or Canceled Classes

To insure proper swimmer-to-instructor ratios for every class, we are unable to permit make-ups. To keep our class fees as low as possible, we will not be able to issue credits or make-ups for missed classes, even if they occur as a result of inclement weather including storm lightning. The storm policy is to close the pool when lightning is over head and for 30 minutes from the last lightning strike.
