High blood cholesterol is a major risk factor for heart disease. Preventing and treating high blood cholesterol includes eating a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol and high in fiber, keeping a healthy weight, and getting regular exercise. All adults should have their cholesterol levels checked once every five years. If yours is high, your doctor may prescribe medicines to help lower it.

In fact, research shows that 50 percent of 12- to 20-year-olds are not getting the exercise they need. And 34 percent of those kids would fail an eight-minute treadmill test.

POSITION: SACC Group Leader
STATUS: Part-Time
REPORTS TO: SACC Site Director
SALARY: $7.25 Hour (varies based on experience)
GENERAL FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Site Director, the incumbent will be responsible for planning developmentally appropriate activities and experiences. Supervise school age children. Ensure all children’s individual needs are met with dignity and respect and opportunities for independence. Assure all safety procedures are followed according to YMCA policies and procedures. Model, practice and carry out the Y values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility. Will be held accountable for problem solving, parent/school communications and maintaining YMCA and Missouri State Standard of Child Care. May be asked to perform other YMCA duties while exemplifying the “Y” values, as assigned by Site Director or Program Director.
